Kathleen Heron was born in Orange, New Jersey & spent most of her adult life in New York City, as well as Boston & San Francisco. She now lives & works right back in Orange.

Kathleen is known for her work in two mediums.  The first is drawing, which depicts humans of her imagination, done with expressive line work in both pen & ink and mixed media.  The second is assemblage, which are surreal tableaux using found objects.

She is a lifelong visual artist.  Formal study includes:
Parsons School of Design, NYC (Graphic Design Major)
The School of Visual Arts, NYC (Fine Arts Major)
The School of Visual Arts, NYC (Continuing Education classes)

Instructors of note include Brice Marden, Yuko Shimizu, Victoria Kahn, Marcia Tucker and Larry Fink.

In past years, Kathleen utilized her artistic sensibilities for a career in NYC photo studios as a stylist for props and wardrobe, casting, and as a production coordinator.

 

She presently works with Pink Dragon Artist Syndicate, in Collection Management, for the late artist Jerry Gant's extensive body of work.
She also shares her art-making experience with people with disabilities, working one-on-one with private clients.  This journey began when, at a very young age, she worked as a ward attendant at a psychiatric hospital, and encouraged the patients with acute mental illness to create art.

Kathleen received a Juror's Choice Award, at the Pierro Gallery, NJ, from Rocio Aranda-Alvarado, currently curator at El Museo del Barrio, Museum Mile, NYC.

Kathleen currently exhibits in New Jersey and New York.
